~ fiori esagono ~


(Italian for flower hexagon)

Materials:
- 4-ply ww acrylic
   - yellow
   - variegated
- I hook

Size:  approximately 5"

Notes:
- the 2 chains at beginning of Rnd 1 does not count as a dc
- I crochet tight, so you may want to adjust the size of your crochet hook

Directions:

Rnd 1:  With yellow, ch 3, 12 dc in 3rd ch from hook.  Join with a sl st to 1st dc.  (12 dc)

Rnd 2:  Ch 1, sc in same st, ch 2.  *sc in next sc, ch 2.  Repeat from * around.  Join with a sl st to 1st sc.  End off.

Rnd 3:  Join variegated with a sl st to any ch-2 space.  (ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same space, ch 1, skip next ch-2 space.  *(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-2 space, ch 1, skip next ch-2 space.  Repeat from * around.  Join with a sl st to top of beginning ch 3.

Rnd 4:  Ch 3, dc in each dc and ch-1 space around with (dc, ch 2, dc) in each corner space.  Join as before. 

Rnd 5:  Ch 3, dc in each dc around with (dc, ch 2, dc) in each corner space.  Join as before.  End off.

  2. I love joining hexagons! I think they are so much more interesting then the normal squares. Do you happen to know what the name of the bottom yarn is? Great pattern!

    1. Hi Beverly. To make this motif bigger - all you have to do is keep repeating Rnd 5 until the piece is as big as you would like it to be. :)

    Debi---I haven't tried your pattern yet, but I wish all crochet patterns were as easy to copy as yours. I don't like to down load to a to another part of my computer. I sometimes forget they are there. This looks great. Looking forward to trying it.
